The YMCA of the Wabash Valley Offers Programming to Help Provide Equal Opportunities for All
MORE THAN A NUMBER ANNUAL CAMPAIGN elevates conversation around zip code disparity across the country and how the Y serves as a resource for all
In many cases here in America, the zip code you're born into may have the ability to determine your future. Sometimes these divisions exist mere miles from each other, in zip codes that are just one number apart. However, the YMCA of the Wabash Valley believes everyone deserves the same opportunities, no matter who you are or where you’re from.
The Y is committed to helping bridge these gaps nationwide. Here in the Wabash Valley, the Clay and Vigo County YMCAs aim to build equity and close opportunity gaps through afterschool care, senior fitness, group exercise, and youth sports.
“Our goal is to strengthen our community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility,” said Ryan Penrod, CEO of the YMCA of the Wabash Valley. “We’re proud to offer a variety of programs to our members and the community to help ensure everyone can thrive, regardless of who they are or where they're from.”
To highlight these zip code disparities, the Y launched “One Number,” the third phase of the “For a better us.” campaign.Entitled “One Number,” the campaign showcases real stories of Y members across the country in several different zip codes, just one number apart, highlightingthe dramatic contrastsbetween their circumstances and how the Y helps each of them overcome the challenges they face.
Now through March 22nd, the YMCA is reaching out to the community for support of its annual campaign. To donate to the YMCA of the Wabash Valley, and help those in your community have more opportunities to grow and thrive through the YMCA’s valuable programming, donate today at www.ymcaswv.org.
