YMCAs TEMPORARILY CLOSING FACILITY
Dear YMCA Member,
At this unprecedented time, the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) is affecting everyone in our community in some way and we want to fulfill our responsibilities to address the current situation. After careful consideration of the developing public health recommendations from Governor Eric Holcomb, the CDC and in consultation with the Clay and Vigo County Health Department, we have made the difficult decision to TEMPORARILY CLOSE all YMCA’s in Clay and Vigo counties – effective 12pm on Friday, March 20, 2020 until further notice. The COVID-19 pandemic is a fluid situation and we will continue to closely monitor the ever-changing dynamics of the pandemic and reevaluate our closure on a weekly basis.
STILL WORKING FOR YOU
The mission of the Y is bigger than a building, and during the time we are closed, we are committed to sharing opportunities with you to stay connected, active and healthy. Although our buildings will be closed, Y mission goes on. We will continue to serve our community the best that we can. We will be shifting our work to the following areas:
• We are pleased to offer you access to a variety of FREE online workouts and group exercise classes to help you stay fit during this time of social distancing. These options offer high-quality workouts via TV, computer, tablet, and smartphone.
o Y360 group exercise classes - free to Y members for a limited time.
o MOSSA Move - free to Y members for 60 days.
o Local YMCA Instructor Virtual Group Exercise Classes – free to Y members and community.
• Continuing to employ some Y staff during the facility closures, conducting maintenance projects, deep cleaning our facilities for your return, and preparing for summer programs.
• Sharing activities and ideas that connect families to fun at home activities, including active play ideas, and projects for all ages. Follow your branch on social media to stay connected.
• Assist the Clay Youth Food program as they provide food to children and families with meals and address food insecurity issues.
Please visit our social media pages on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram along with our website at www.ymcaswv.org for periodic updates as we strive to keep you informed. Additionally, we encourage you to check the CDC’s website or Indiana Dept of Health for important updates and safety information. The American Academy of Pediatrics also has helpful information specific to children and families.
Thank you for your continued loyalty to the YMCA. With your support, we will come through this difficult challenge stronger than ever. We know that as a community, we are better when we work together. We appreciate your patience and understanding during these unprecedented times and will continue to update you as we are informed of the opportunity to reopen and begin serving you in our YMCAs.
